Sleepless in Herriman

You'd think after 3 months (or 4 years, really) of my kids constantly waking me up during the night I'd be used to it.  On the contrary...I am exhausted beyond reason. Say hello to Queen of Grouchville!!  I was really hoping to start the year off right with getting my kids to bed and having them stay asleep.  I tried the no-more-Mr.-nice-guy approach, bribes, threats, candy, sticker charts, the bedtime fairy, and even the gate.  Which Max quickly figured out that he just had to push with all his might to pop it out, or move his heavy bookcase to climb over it.  So they still have not slept through the night yet despite my efforts.  And on top of all this sleeplessness Max got croup.  So no sleep, no showers, no cleaning, cooking or laundry and nothing but holding Max 24/7 for 4 days and nights straight!  Yeah, I'm as fresh as a flower that was picked in the spring.  I really envy you moms that can tuck your little ones in and walk away to sleep a full 8 hours undisturbed.  I have to remind myself that this can't last forever and to bear all things with patience.  But I'd also want to see how you'd do after spending an hour getting kids to sleep, only to lay your head on your own pillow and drift off for a moment to hearing the groggy cries of BOTH kids saying the want milk or to come sleep in your bed night after night after sleepless night.  I'm gonna go get a hotel...

Oh JaNece. I'm so sorry. I have no words of wisdom for you but you are more than welcome to come over and sleep at my house. :) If I ever make it over that way I'd be happy to come spend a few nights with your kiddos so you can get some well deserved rest.

Aren't they ready for sleepovers yet? LOL

I'm so sorry. Maybe you're just lucky and your kids want to spend every waking and sleeping hours with you and that means they love you more...
Don't know what to tell you. I guess we all have our own trials in life that are designed just for us. Good luck. Send them for a sleep over if you want... You are stronger than you know.

You seriously are a trooper, I don't know how you do it. Sadie has been sleeping the night for me since she was like 3 months old with occasionaly phases of waking up. Well the last 2+ weeks she has had a little cough and wakes up from it and calls my name in the middle of the night and somehow ends up in my bed :) It is starting to get to me and it has only been 2 weeks. You are lucky you look so beautiful with the lack of sleep you get everynight for the last 4 years. Good luck! :)

oh man, Janece I am so sorry. Those are long days and nights. I am sorry about Max...croup stinks. You are welcome to send them over so you can get a nap. Some days I cannot survive without a nap. I work at 5am so if my kids did not sleep I would be a mess.

JaNece--I feel for you. I get SOOO grouchy if my kids wake me up. I finally just told them--If you get up in the night, DO NOT wake me up. Get your pillow and blanket and sleep on the floor. That has helped a lot. Most nights I don't even know who/if anyone came in. I hate croup. We get it every year too. It stinks because they feel so lousy you have to hold them nonstop. We're just praying we don't get pneumonia this year. Last year, we had it 4 times in our house. YUCK!!! Good luck. I always have an empty bed at my house. haha

I'm sorry JaNece, hope this phase ends soon, so you can get some rest, you deserve it. You can bring them over to hang out with Tio and Tia anytime so you can get a nap :)

Oh, I feel your pain sista! Blake recently decided he WILL NOT sleep in his crib...the transfer from crib to bed is always a nightmare! Finally, he is not getting up constantly and is staying in bed. You need a day to relax and get a pedicure or something...you deserve it!

I wanna go too!!! A weekend getaway, to catch up on sleep! ;) I hear ya woman, Natalia wakes up all the time! asks for a drink, needs to go potty, or just wants to crawl in bed with us! Like u said, I think we just have to be patient, however, it would be nice to sleep through the night for once! ;P
