What to eat for breakfast??

Every morning I struggle to eat breakfast. I'm not a huge fan of breakfast foods, so it's hard for me to want to cook every morning and it seems like everything is sweet (pancakes, waffles, crepes, yogurt, cereal). However, I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I want my kids to get a good, healthy breakfast. We are sick of oatmeal or scrambled eggs. And I'm finding my kids are p i c k y eaters. They won't eat pancakes drizzled in yummy syrup! Please share your ideas on breakfast with me. What do you eat? What do your kids like? What is quick and easy? How do you make breakfast every day and not eat the same things?

Good luck! We usually have cold cereal & Polly is lucky if I remember before 10:00. I usually have a slim fast - not because I am trying to lose weight the month before I have a new baby, but because I have a hard time with breakfast, too & it's probably still better than eating nothing! Let me know if you get any good tips :)

I have to have breakfast or I can't function, but we are boring. Karson has pancakes or oatmeal and yogart every single day and I have cereal or carnation instant breakfast because I can drink it while I get ready for work. I don't have time to cook breakfast so Karson gets frozen pancakes.

OK, I LOVE BREAKFAST!!!!
I love all the sweet meals to make, and also the non-sweet meals. We have a great routine which won't work for everyone. But Rich actually makes a hot breakfast every week day!!! And we wake up the kids and eat together as a family at 7:30AM before he leaves for work. The main objective for this is that we also read our family scriptures and have family prayers right after we eat. Gotta love Rich!!! What do we eat? We do get stuck in rutts, but that's OK. Eventually we pull out.

We eat:
pancakes, waffels, french toast, crepes, german pancakes, scrambled eggs with muffins, eggs in holes (some people call these eggs in baskets - you butter both sides of the bread and cut a hole in the middle and put it on the griddle cracking an egg in the center. Also you put the circle cut out on the griddle and cook to your liking. Flipping half way through. We like the eggs a little dippy. This is one of my kids FAVORITES!), breakfast burritos, bagles with cream cheese and fruit, fruit smoothies and toast, eggs and bacon and toast or hashbrowns, breakfast pizza (bake hash browns mixed with an egg till golden then add scrambled eggs, veggies and cheese on top and bake till bubbly), omlets, oatmeal, sticky buns (YUMMY!), and cold cereal for those fast or off days. We try to add fresh fruit to most meals when we can. And Rich likes to randomly try new breakfast recipies he finds on the internet or cookbooks. One that he didn't make again (there's more than one)? Crepes with asparagus and goats cheese...

This is a really long comment. But I'm passionate about breakfast. I think that if you get a full healthy breakfast that your kids won't fight as much, you'll be full longer, have more energy, be happier and maybe even loose weight!
Good luck!!!

Have you seen my food storage, CEREAL CEREAL CEREAL!! My kids love it, I love it and it has great nutrition, at least the side of the box says it does, and as long as you aren't eating the super sugary CEREAL you will lose weight. I lost and kept off 5 lbs on the Special K diet, CEREAL, CEREAL!

I'm only home for breakfast on the weekends, which puts JT in charge and that means Boston eats frozen pancakes, french toast sticks, or waffles with syrup every morning! I'm shocked your kids don't like pancakes and syrup because that's basically breakfast in our house! JT always makes himself eggs and bacon and I'm like you not really into breakfast.. but I do eat two everyday! I eat a yogurt about 4am when I get to work and then I have a bowl of cold cereal when I get home at 9:30am. If your kids will eat cold cereal I'd just give them that, maybe add some fruit and or toast. I agree though, I hate making breakfast and I really don't even on the weekends. I know JT wants me to do something gourmet and cold cereal is fine by me!

My family LOVES a German pancake recipe that I got from my mother in-law. I'll post it on my recipe blog if you'd like to see it. I am also a HUGE breakfast fan! My cupboard is well-stocked with cereals. I'm almost ashamed to admit that the sugary, kid-friendly cereals aren't just for Aubrey either, because I LOVE them too!

I love breakfast in an instant, that is, Carnation Instant Breakfast. My kds love it. I'm sure you have heard of them. It is just milk with the package of chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. I don't feel so guilty, because they are drinking their milk, plus they are loaded with vitamins those little bodies need. Then all they really want is some toast to go with it. Easy and so good for you! I hate breakfast food too! I would much rather have a Big Mac.

Breakfast burritos- Scrambled eggs and yummy stuff in a tortilla.

Yogurt and fruit with granola or a granola bar crumbled on top.

Cottage cheese with fruit

Oatmeal with fruit and honey on top

Egg mc muffins- Scrambled or fried eggs with ham and cheese on an english muffin.

Waffles with fat free coolwhip, cinnamon and sugar and fresh berries.

Lean pocket breakfast pockets.

I LOVE breakfast and have to eat as soon as I get up! My kids love cereal, pancakes (always colored with food coloring), muffins, sometimes scrambled eggs, sometimes french toast, Danimals (liquid yogurt)... I really need to try better at getting them fruit and oatmeal!
