I Can Do It By Myself

Lukas is at a fun age where he really likes to be independent and do things himself (I think he's always had this desire, but can now actually do things himself). And actually I really like this because I no longer have to change his diapers, make his bed (unless I want it to look good), force him to brush his teeth or dress him. However, there are some disadvantages to this. He dresses himself, and therefore he grabs the first thing he sees and puts it on. Nothing new, right. But it can be embarrassing. EXAMPLE: I took the kids to the Thanksgiving Point Barn to meet up with a friend and her kids. Lukas dressed himself for the day and was wearing his too-small Buzz Lightyear PJ top (that he wore to bed the night before), his new batman socks with crocks and shorts and batman tatoos all over his legs and hands. I love his independence, but c'mon! Today he wore his cute shark shorts with a long-sleeved striped polo shirt. It just does not go together, but I what can I do? I am just happy that he can do it himself. :)

Boy, this whole independence thing sounds so familiar with Aubrey! :) One day just out of the blue when I was helping her get dressed after her bath, she became down-right angry with me and said, "I wanna do it all by myself!" It is a good thing, but when she ends up putting her shirt on backwards and her shoes end up on the wrong feet, it still makes me want to step in & help. Oh well! :)

You never know, you may be sending him to kindergarten in a PJ top, shorts and snow boots. LOL

How funny, what a fun age! Reminds me of the movie Big Daddy, lol.

Oh, I love it! How cute! He will be mad in a couple years that you let him do that.. hahah, well maybe not, Boys are different than girls, but Skylar gets mad at me now when she see's pictures of her when she dressed herself and it doesn't match! hahah. Your such a good mom to let him find his own independence!

I love it! It's so cute that he knows how to do it and knows what looks cool to 3 and 4 year-olds. I guarantee you that every kid who saw him at Thanksgiving point was jealous that they didn't get to wear their Buzz Lightyear pj top. You're one super cool mom to let him do that.
