Summer is Here!

We got jipped of Spring, and now it's getting hotter and the sun is coming at full force. We are happy eating popsicles and sitting in the shade whenever possible. The pool is open and we're ready to plunge in! I think we might need to upgrade to a bigger pool, what do you think?!

Preschool Pals Graduation

Lukas' last day of preschool was last week and we had a party at the splash park today (the one we rode Lukas' bike to). He got a certificate, cupcakes, a water gun and got to play with his friends. I can see how much he's grown since the first day I took him to preschool. And although he still has 2 years before he can go to kindergarten, this was a wonderful time for him to learn and be around kids his age. (He misses the cut-off date for kindergarten by 6 days!) This was a Joy School kind of preschool, where the mom's were the teachers and we rotated houses every 7 weeks. Next year he goes to Riverton High and is going to be in the Silver Pups Preschool (where a HS student is assigned one preschooler and so they get a lot of one-on-one attention). We're excited for him, he really is getting so big!

The New Bike

Lukas' birthday is in September and this year we wanted to buy him a bike. We figured if we wait and buy it for him on his bday, he'd only have a month to ride it. So we gave him an early present. He's been loving it and riding all around the neighborhood showing his friends his new bike. He keeps saying, "I look like Landon". (He has a friend that's 9 months older than him that has a bike already.) He is getting the hang of it and we even rode it all the way to the park today (which took twice as long b/c he's so slow), but he loves it and is having fun, which is all we want! So HAPPY early BIRTHDAY LUKAS!

Goodbye Bluey

Last week I had a disturbing dream about our Beta fish Bluey. In my dream, he was out of his bowl I was trying to get him into some safe water and he was squirming around all over the place. I couldn't find water that had been treated, so I hurried and put some drops in some water and put Bluey in it. He started freaking out and I realized I was supposed to wait 30 minutes for the drops to de-chlorinate the water before I put him in. Well, I woke up and was relieved it was only a dream. Then this morning I noticed how dirty Bluey's bowl was, so I put him in a smaller bowl and rinsed and cleaned his bowl. I put the drops in and set both bowls on the kitchen counter. I planned on coming back to put Bluey back in his bowl after 30 minutes. I went about my day and it was lunch time, so I went to the kitchen to fix lunch. I peeked in the small bowl to check on Bluey and to my surprise he wasn't there!!!! I looked in his regular bowl, but he wasn't there either. So I was frantically looking on the counter, in the sink and then I saw him... He had jumped out of his bowl and landed on the kitchen rug. I started screaming (I'm still not sure why I reacted this way). I could see he had been out for several hours b/c he was sort of shriveled. I quickly plopped him back into the bowl to see if by some miracle he'd hit the water and be revived. But of course, he just floated there. I continued to scream and then I started crying. Lukas came to my aid and asked what was going on. I told him about Bluey and he said, "Well, maybe we can buy a new one." I called Pat hysterical and explained what happened. Lukas had climbed up on the kitchen counter at this point and stuck his finger in the water and Bluey moved. Probably just reflexes, but we both freaked out and started screaming! Poor Lukas. I am really tramatizing him! I got off the phone and ran to find Lukas (he jumped off the counter and ran away). He was fine, but I was balling like a baby! He looked at me and said, "Awww, Mom, it's okay. Don't be sad. C'mere." And the put his arms around me and told me we could buy a hamster or something. How crazy is this? I'm crying hysterically over a little fish and my 3 year-old son is comforting me! Whew. What a day. I just feel like I could've saved Bluey. If I transfered him to his water sooner, or noticed him sooner....there is always "what if", right? At this point I wonder if we can ever get a pet bigger than a fish b/c I do not want to deal with any more deaths. Bluey was a good little fish and was pretty to look at. Sorry that you jumped out of your water. I wish I could've saved you. We'll miss you Bluey!

Sewing Project

Now you can see why I feel
so guilty that I have to make a chart for Lukas... Because I get caught up in other things and later realize that I have kids that need me. But here it is...my scripture tote. It took me several tries and lots of mistakes to get it right. A sister in the ward is having her daughter's baptism this weekend and she asked me to make this for her. (I'm teaching a sewing class for Relief Society next month and we're making similar bags, but bigger). I think I might have to make myself one. (THANKS Mom for teaching me how to sew and for giving me the idea to make this bag). :)

Project of the Week

So the project this week has been to get some fun things organized for Lukas. I always feel bad when I don't do more with him. I came up with a chart (I probably have a chart for everything, yet I'm always making a new one. ? Don't ask.) I'm a very visual person and I like to be able to see things. This is what I came up with. Actually, I'm kind of embarrassed to post it. I don't want people to think I'm this die-hard educator. I just want Lukas to have fun activities to do during the day besides watch NOGGIN (which is actually a cute station...it's like preschool on TV.) And this way it makes it easy to choose an activity. He gets a little pouch with each category and picks an activity from inside. Then when we've completed it, he can put the little velcro picture on his chart so we can see what he did that day. He also has three "passes" for milk (he could drink it all day, but I'm limiting it to 3) and he gets 3 passes for TV. We'll see how it works. It's actually going to be a lot of work for me, but I'm excited to play more with him. What do you like to do with your kids for fun/learning? I've got to fill all of those pouches with ideas...YIKES!

Memorial Day

The boys and I visited the cemetary in Payson this weekend to pay tribute to my grandparents (on my mom's side) . Luckily, we went on Saturday when the skies were clear. The boys didn't have a clue what a cemetary was, but enjoyed playing and looking at the flowers. I have another set of Grandparents buried in Helper, Utah and Pat's grandparents are buried in Orem. We didn't get to visit them all this year, but we think of them constantly and miss their presense here. We know their legacy lives on through us and we hope to make them proud!

Baby Owen

We had a family get together this weekend for Memorial Day and my Uncle Boyd's birthday. As some of you may remember, my little nephew, Owen had a cyst on his lung and had to have major surgery last month to get it removed. They've had to be so careful with him and have kept him home so he wouldn't get an infection or any kind of illness. My poor sister-in-law probably has cabin fever. This weekend she came to our picnic and brought Owen. He's grown so much and is so cute! He looks just like my brother! SO CUTE! I'm so glad he's doing well and getting healthy!
