"Sometime in the eternities to come, we will see that our trials were calculated to cause us to turn to our Heavenly Father for strength and support. Any affliction or suffering we are called upon to bear may be directed to give us experience, refinement, and perfection." --Delbert L. Stapley, "The Blessings of Righteous Obedience", Ensign, Nov. 1977

Time for Change
I've been feeling an itch for some change. So what's the quickest, least expensive way to change something? Paint it!! So that's just what I've been doing. I painted the bathroom by the living room and I liked it so much I decided to paint our bedroom, too. Now here's the boring bedroom BEFORE: And here's AFTER: I'm just glad it's done. My wrists and hands were so sore from all the painting. And you wouldn't believe how hard it is to keep 2 curious boys out of this room for a week while it's getting painted. There were a lot of late nights b/c I had to wait 'til the boys were asleep to assure that they couldn't get their hands on anything. I still need to move in the rest of our furniture (which we don't have b/c we are selling our old stuff and buying a new dresser and nightstands). It looks kind of empty. (I found the bedspread/pillows at Kohls! My favorite place to shop.) And yes, I painted the brush on the wall. ?? What do you think?

The end...
of diapers is in sight! Way to go Maxers for being a big boy and going on the potty (almost) every time! You owe it to your big brother who teaches by example and gives you lots of praise! I love having boys.

Ode to Fathers
What a great day to celebrate all the DADs out there! Happy Father's Day!!!!! Pat and I are so very blessed to have two great dad's (Jack & Big Pat). They taught us so much and we are so grateful for them. If it weren't for Dad's, who would teach us how to change a tire or mow the lawn?? Here's what the boys say about their dad... "I like it when Daddy plays Pictionary with me. He draws so good!"- Lukas "He gives me gummies. I love sour." -Max (referring to Sour Patch Kids, which Pat keeps in a big jar in his office.)
Thanks Pat for being the greatest Dad to our boys. They love you and look up to you. You're an awesome example to them!! This day is for YOU!! Now, let's go fishin'!Posted by JaNece at 10:22 PM 2 comments

Oquirrh Mountain Temple
What a rare thing living in Utah is. I can look out my window and see the Draper Temple and then as I'm running errands I look up to see the Oquirrh Mtn. Temple and then from another short distance I see the Jordan River Temple. We are so blessed to have 4 temples just in this valley alone. We went to the Oquirrh Mtn. Temple open house yesterday with Gma (Sonia). It was such a wonderful experience. Immediately I felt the spirit and started crying as the video came on. I just love the feeling that I get when I forget the world (stupid jeans) and figure out what is really important. And they had the BEST cookies I have ever tasted (maybe that's because it's been a while since I've had cookies...), but they seriously were so good! I am excited to have this new temple open so close to my house and can't wait to go weekly. Yes, that is my new goal. Weekly. I love to see the temple!!!!!!!!! Anyone want to come with me?

7 Pounds
That's how much I've lost. And my reward...a new pair of jeans (expensive ones at that!). Thank you South Beach and my photographer, Lukas. P.S. This was not an easy loss. And it's on-going. We can't all be a size 2. And I love cookies too much. :)

T R O U B L E
Max has done it again. Another owie. We were at a restaurant Friday night and he tripped and hit his face on the bench right below his eye. It was very puffy and red and now it's turning purple and blue. That kid takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. (That's his sad face.) AND, we are painting a bathroom and as I was cleaning up I noticed paint on the couch. Yes, Max put his hand in it (and trust me, we were so careful to not let him anywhere near it, yet somehow he got to it) and it's all over one of our couch cushions! ! Then later he was playing with red play doh and it's now rubbed deep into the carpet. I could scream at that kid, but how can I? He's too cute. And he just doesn't get it. He doesn't know how much trouble he's getting into. And he says, "Sorry Mom, sorry" in the cutest lisp I've ever heard. (Do ya think he needs a haircut? My Dad keeps calling him Maxine.)

What the...Hail?
Yes, hail in June! And it came on fast! I was driving home in light rain with the kids and by the time we pulled into our driveway there was a river literally running through the street in front of our house. Our rain gutters were clogged with hail and it was like snow. C R A Z Y! The kids loved it. I was worried about the flowers I just planted and everything flooding b/c it came so fast and so hard. Luckily, nothing flooded here. (I know there were several houses in this area that weren't so lucky.) We've gotten a lot of rain this month.

Papa & Nana
I love that we live close enough to visit Papa and Nana on a whim. The boys got to go fishing and feed the ducks at Salem pond. Papa helped them dig up worms as bait. They got in the hot tub with Nana, and Papa took them on a ride on his Harley. Time goes too fast when you're having fun with grandparents!!!

Rain
There is something I just LOVE about the rain. The smell, the air, the wet. I LOVE it. Most people see dark clouds and are disappointed, but not me. I'm thrilled. I don't ever want it to stop. I think I need to move where we get more rain. Instead of making me feel sad and depressed it has the opposite effect. We just got a new bench for our porch and already I've sat on it twice to listen and smell the rain. Ahhhhh. I love it. Look at those dark clouds behind the house. And I have to add that our yard is finally looking like it's supposed to! We spent ALL day Saturday on it...seriously we were out there from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (with food breaks, of course). It was neglected for far too long, but no more! Pat mowed, I pulled weeds, we cleaned out window wells, planted, mulched, put in lights, stained the kids picnic bench...whew!! And now we love being in our yard. We just have trees left to plant, that is when we get enough money to pay for them. (They are expensive!!) Thanks to my dad who made me work in the yard every Saturday. I actually enjoy pulling weeds now. (In my own yard, don't even think about asking me to take care of your yard! :)
